More than 2.1 million Filipinos work on renewable contracts in the GCC. When a European employer offer appears, the OFW question is not can I apply but where do I file and which papers follow me? Poland Type A, Romania IGI and Croatia HZZ routes all allow filing from GCC where your residence is valid, but Philippine NBI, DFA apostille and, where relevant, DMW/POLO rules still travel with you.
The OFW filing decision: GCC or Manila?
With a valid Emirates ID, Saudi Iqama, Qatar QID or Kuwait/Oman/Bahrain residence you can often lodge at the Polish, Romanian or Croatian mission serving the GCC. Short visit status, expiring Iqama or a nationality-locked checklist pushes you back to Manila. We map this per corridor: Poland Dubai, Romania Riyadh, Croatia Doha and others each have a different convention.
Keep GCC residence valid
Do not resign before IGI/Voivodeship issuance. Keep exit/re-entry and NOC timelines in mind.
Dual police clearance
NBI via Manila or consulate plus GCC police clearance. Both take weeks.
Destinations OFWs target most
- Poland Type A: warehouse, factory, food production, logistics (most GCC-friendly employer pool)
- Romania: construction and logistics via IGI, then D/AM visa
- Croatia: hospitality, tourism, construction with HZZ opinion
- Malta: hotels and restaurants, Single Permit
Check your OFW corridor eligibility
File from Dubai, Riyadh or Doha where allowed. Eligibility assessment is free.
Documents OFWs should prepare now
- Passport with GCC residence stamp and consistent spelling across PSA, passport and NBI
- DFA-apostilled diploma or work certificates; GCC-issued experience letters via consulate where the mission requires
- Employment certificates from GCC and Philippine employers with congruent dates
- Insurance, translations and photos to mission spec, not a generic package
We never guarantee jobs, sponsorship or visa approval. Employment depends on employer selection and decisions are made by European authorities.
